Product Description

This 8.0″ × 40″ thin-film composite (TFC) RO membrane is designed for seawater systems that prioritize energy efficiency without compromising stable permeate quality. It is a drop-in replacement for standard 8040 pressure vessels and interconnectors, and includes clear operating limits, cleaning chemistry windows, and preservation guidance for dependable service life.

Key features

  • Low-energy design achieves target flux at reduced feed pressure to help lower kWh per m³.
  • Typical salt rejection up to 99.5% for dependable product conductivity.
  • Balanced feed spacers support stable differential pressure and effective CIP.
  • 1.125″ permeate tube ID; drop-in fit for multi-element 8040 vessels and couplers.
  • Compatible with energy recovery devices (ERD) and staged SWRO arrays.

Interfaces & compatibility

  • Format: 8040 TFC polyamide element
  • Permeate tube: 1.125″ (28.6 mm)
  • Housings/couplers: standard 8″ pressure vessels with interconnectors
  • Change-out: replace like-for-like in most 8040 trains

Operating & cleaning limits*

  • Max temperature: 45 °C (113 °F)
  • pH range (operation): 2–11; (cleaning): 1–12
  • Max pressure: 1,200 psi (8.3 MPa)
  • Free chlorine: not recommended on TFC unless explicitly allowed by the datasheet; dechlorinate upstream

*Always verify final limits on the current model datasheet.

Typical test conditions

32,000 mg/L NaCl25 °C, reduced operating pressure versus HR types, and ~8% recovery. In service, performance depends on temperature, salinity, recovery, and pretreatment (SDI/MFI, antiscalant window).

What’s included

  • Factory-preserved element in sealed bag
  • Installation torque notes; cleaning & preservation guidance (download)

Applicable Industry

  • Municipal SWRO plants with energy-recovery devices
  • Retrofits where pump head is limited or energy savings are targeted
  • Coastal hotels, island resorts, and industrial SWRO requiring lower specific energy use

Advantage One

Advantage 1 — Lower pressure for the same output

The low-energy design helps achieve target flux at reduced feed pressure, supporting lower specific energy consumption and potentially extending high-pressure pump life when operated within recommended windows.

Advantage TWO

Advantage 2 — Drop-in 8040 compatibility

Standard 1.125″ permeate tube and multi-element vessel coupling enable quick change-outs. Acceptance after start-up is straightforward: normalized permeate flow near the clean baseline, rejection on spec, and stage ΔP within limits.
