Resin water softener---Solution to the problem of resin being flushed out of the tank during regeneration
During the operation of softening water equipment, it is often seen that softening resin flows into the sewer or water tank, resulting in resin waste and unqualified softened water. Let us analyze the cause and solution of this problem.
Resin leakage occurs when the softening water resin grease leaks during the water production or regeneration process of the resin water softener (the resin enters the soft water tank or flows out with the sewage).
The common causes of resin leakage during water production are the rupture of the central tube, the detachment or rupture of the lower water distributor, and a large amount of softening water resin enters the soft water tank. It is easy to find out by disassembling the resin tank and pulling out the central tube for inspection. If there is any damage, replace the central tube water distributor.

Regeneration steps for softening water equipment resin: Open the salt inlet valve, close the other valves, start the raw water pump, suck all the salt water in the salt tank into the softener, and leave it for more than 4 hours.
Softening water equipment salt washing: After the softening resin is regenerated, the salt in the softener must be rinsed clean before use, according to the manual valve flushing method (including forward flushing and backwashing).
The presence of calcium and magnesium ions in water is the main reason for the formation of scale when the water temperature changes. At present, the commonly used softening water equipment in China mainly includes manual type, domestic combination type, domestic multi-valve type, and imported multi-way valve type. Among them, the imported multi-way valve type softening water equipment is the main product on the market. This equipment is based on imported multi-way valves and controllers, and is equipped with domestic resin tanks, salt boxes, pipes and other materials to form a fully automatic softening water equipment.
Since the deposition of scale has a significant impact on hospital medical water and production, hospital medical water and domestic water have certain requirements for hardness indicators. In particular, if the water used for washing and disinfection in the supply room contains hardness salts, scale will be generated on the heating surface of the sterilizer, thereby reducing the sterilization efficiency of the sterilizer, increasing the sterilization time, and even damaging the components and causing explosions due to local overheating of the metal wall. Therefore, the water used for washing and disinfection in the supply room must be softened and desalinated.
The main reason for resin leakage during the regeneration process (resin flows out with sewage) is the rupture of the upper water distributor, the high water pressure and too fast flow rate of the backwash water. After confirming that the upper water distributor is not damaged, we can reduce the backwash water flow rate and solve the problem of resin leakage in the softening water equipment.
1.During the regeneration process, the pressure in the bed should not be too high. This has two purposes: one is to prevent the brine from being pumped in due to the high pressure in the bed. The other is to prevent the brine being regenerated from leaking into the running bed due to the loose salt liquid inlet of the running bed, causing the hardness or Cl- content of the running bed to increase.
2.Regularly backwash the salt filter. Since there is a certain amount of mud and sand in the industrial salt, if it is not removed, it may enter the softening bed with the brine and accumulate in the resin layer, affecting the regeneration or operation effect of the softening bed. In order to ensure the operation effect of the salt filter, the salt filter should be backwashed regularly. It can be considered to be backwashed every 25-30 days. The backwashing of the salt filter can be performed according to the general filter operation.
3.Regeneration should not be interrupted. Regeneration interruption can easily cause air to enter the resin layer, thereby affecting the regeneration effect.
4.During the regeneration process, the monitoring pipe water flow should always be maintained. The monitoring pipe water flow indicates that there is a certain thickness of water layer on the resin layer. This has two advantages: one is to prevent air from entering. The second is to avoid the brine directly impacting the resin surface, causing the resin layer surface to be uneven and produce bias flow.
5.In order to improve the regeneration effect, a two-step regeneration method can be used: first, 1/3 of the regeneration salt is mixed into a relatively dilute concentration (1%-2%). Then, the remaining 2/3 is mixed into a relatively concentrated concentration (8%-10%) for regeneration, which can achieve better results.
Tips for installing softened water equipment are as follows:
1.No need to make a special installation foundation, the foundation can be level; there is a certain gap from the wall, and it can be arranged near the corners according to the actual situation.
2.The inlet and outlet pipes are standard flange or threaded connections, which need to be fixed and supported. They cannot be supported by the valve body to prevent stress.
3.A water pressure gauge should be installed on the water inlet pipe. When the equipment is running, flushing water is discharged, and floor drains or drainage ditches should be set nearby; the sewage pipe should not be longer than 6 meters, no stop valve should be installed, the outlet should not be higher than the valve body, the terminal opening [to avoid siphoning], and the fewer elbows, the better.
4.If the inlet water pressure is lower than 0.2mpa, a pipeline pump must be installed.
5.The pipeline must be flushed before use to avoid impurities clogging the valve body and contaminating the resin.
6.Brine pipe: The brine tank should be as close to the softening tank as possible, and the shorter the brine pipe, the better.
7.The power distribution socket should be installed on the wall near the equipment, and a fuse should be installed [generally no switch should be installed], and good grounding is required.
